PRESS RELEASE NUMBER 20- 2006
Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course hosted the final round of the AMA Championship in Lexington Ohio, September 29th through October 1, 2006. Coming into the last round Jason DiSalvo of Stafford NY was third in each of two championships. The Formula Xtreme Championship being the tightest of all with only 8 points separating the top contenders. Jason needed to win this event in order to win the Formula Xtreme Championship. In the Superstock Championship Jason had fallen in an early race on the West Coast and was not in contention for the number 1 plate.
With the weather being cold and damp Friday brought shorter practices and Saturday was almost a complete rain out.
In the Formula Xtreme qualifier to set the grid for Saturday's race found Jason third fastest with a front row starting position. With a good start Jason ran third ultimately finishing in that position at the checkered flag. With the third place finish in the final event, Jason ended up 3rd in the championship for the Formula Xtreme class.
The 1000cc Superstock class which had qualifying set for Saturday was rained out with a shortened program on Sunday. They took practice times from Friday in lieu of qualifying to set the grid for Sundays main event. Jason having been fastest in Friday's practice gave him the pole position for the Superstock event. With a good start Jason ran second taking over the lead as the first place runner crashed. He then led the event to the checkered flag winning the Superstock race to end the season on a positive note.
| With the season coming to a close Jason will be taking a short holiday before doing an autograph appearance in Elizabethtown, NJ for the new 2007 Yamaha 600cc and 1000cc introduction.
