Jason DiSalvo No Longer Racing World Supersport For Triumph |
|
Monday, June 07, 2010
For immediate release: June 7, 2010
Stafford, New York: Popular American racer Jason DiSalvo has announced that he and the ParkinGO BE1 Triumph team have amicably parted ways, as of today's date.
DiSalvo has won races in the AMA Supersport, Superstock, and Formula Xtreme classes, and most recently earned six pole positions in the 2009 Daytona Sportbike championship. In 2008 DiSalvo finished third in the AMA Superbike Championship. During DiSalvo's professional career he has recorded multiple wins, dozens of podium finishes, plus multiple second- and third-place final championship rankings in the AMA series over the course of the years 2002, 2005, 2006 and 2008.
Moving to the Supersport World Championship for 2010, DiSalvo showed his quickness in learning new tracks and was hopeful of a season with many top-ten finishes leading to the goal of the podium, as soon as possible. Unfortunately, limited-resources within the team have impacted his progress in the highly competitive field of the World Supersport class. DiSalvo is thankful for all that the team was able to do in introducing him to the world-racing scene of production-based motorcycles.
DiSalvo said, "The guys on the ParkinGO team really gave me an education about racing at this level, and I thank them for all they've done. Being the only team with double the number of riders has made it difficult for each of us to perform at our best. I'm dedicated to the craft of racing that I love so much, but with my bike regularly showing 5-10 mph less speed than the others through the traps, there's a truth that neither of us can ignore. I hope that with one less rider these guys can do better and that I can find a team who's ready to benefit from my riding. Again, I thank the team for trying as hard as they could with what they have to work with."

Jason DiSalvo of Stafford, NY and Las Vegas, NV began the World SuperSport Season at Phillip Island, Australia commencing his rookie year in the World SuperSport Championship. Jason having signed with ParkinGO Triumph Factory BE1 Racing for the 2010 season had little time to prepare for the opening event at Phillip Island. Having tested once in Portimao, Portugal and once at Phillip Island, Jason was ready for the challenge of learning a new track, a new bike, and a new team. During the course of the weekend Jason improved his time from Friday’s practice to race day and was looking for a good finish in his first race. |

The race began with sunny weather, although strong winds created some problems for the riders. Three laps into the start of the race, Jason ran off the track, re-entered the race last and a red flag incident created a restart of the entire race. Starting from row 3 deep in the field, Jason worked his way up to 10th place and continued to improve during the last 3 laps, ultimately finishing 8th overall. |

A team spokesperson commented, “Jason rode a positive race and managed to further improve. The ‘Yankee’ had a long battle with Miguel Praia, whom he managed to overtake in the last few laps.” |

In an interview with Jason, he stated, "I'm happy with the result. I started pretty far in the back, but I improved a lot. I battled with riders who went faster than me in practice and I had a really nice duel with Miguel Praia in the end, who just wouldn't give in". |

Jason riding the Triumph Daytona 675 Three cylinder had nothing but raves for the Triumph. He said “the bike definitely has the ability to win races and the championship”
and is sure as he learns more about the Daytona 675, Triumph, the team and the new tracks, everything will come together for a positive season. |
